“BASIC TRAINING PROGRAMME ON MEDIATION IN CIVIL DISPUTES”

Our University has been providing mediation training since 2018. The preparatory courses for the mediation examination planned for 2020 have been suspended for a short period at all universities, including ours. We are awaiting the announcement of the Department of Mediation for the courses to resume. For these reasons, mediation training has been suspended for a short period throughout Türkiye by the Department of Mediation.

Following the announcement by the Department of Mediation that all training institutions may resume mediation training, the dates of the mediation training to be held by the Faculty of Law of the Social Sciences University of Ankara will be announced at a later date. Pre-registered participants will be given priority. Pre-registration is still open.

Under Law No. 6325 on Mediation in Civil Disputes, mediation may be used in private law disputes, including those involving a foreign element, arising from matters and transactions over which the parties may freely dispose. The Basic Mediation Training offered by the Social Sciences University of Ankara covers the fundamentals of conducting mediation, communication techniques, negotiation and dispute resolution methods, behavioural psychology and the other theoretical and practical knowledge specified in the regulation.

The Basic Mediation Training of the Social Sciences University of Ankara is a programme for citizens of the Republic of Türkiye who are law graduates with five years of professional seniority. It covers the basic theoretical and practical knowledge required for mediation and consists of a total of eighty-four (84) class hours: sixty-eight (68) hours of theory and sixteen (16) hours of practice.

Attendance Requirement: Unless they have a documented excuse accepted by the training institution, participants must attend all classes and activities during the mediation training. Training institutions keep an attendance record for each candidate, and those who miss 1/12 of the classes are removed from the programme.

Certificate/Certificate of Attendance: Training institutions issue a certificate of attendance to those who successfully complete the training within one month at the latest.

Training fee for 2020-2021: TRY 2,100. For group participation of 4 or more people: TRY 1,950. 

To take the examination, you must be a graduate of a faculty of law.

• Final Registration Form (Will be sent by e-mail to pre-registered participants during final registration.)
• Bank receipt showing payment of the programme fee (The IBAN will be sent by e-mail to pre-registered participants during final registration.)
• A document showing five years of professional seniority
• Copy of identity card
