Symposium on Construction Law Held

The ASBU Faculty of Law held a Symposium on Construction Law on 19 February 2021.

The Symposium, opened with speeches by ASBU Rector Prof. Dr. Musa Kazım ARICAN and the Dean of the ASBU Faculty of Law, Bülent KENT, was held online.

In Session I, chaired by Prof. Dr. Fikret EREN, Prof. Dr. Şebnem AKİPEK ÖCAL presented “The Place of the Promise to Sell Immovable Property in Construction Law and Problems in Practice”; Prof. Dr. Hayrunnisa ÖZDEMİR, “Revenue-Sharing Construction Contracts”; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Süleyman YILMAZ, “Consequences of the Contractor’s Default in Construction Contracts”; and Prof. Dr. Oğuz Sadık AYDOS, “The Engineer’s Liability under FIDIC”.

In Session II, chaired by Prof. Dr. Zarife ŞENOCAK, Assoc. Prof. Dr. İlker ÖZTAŞ presented “An Assessment of the Court of Cassation’s Case Law on the Unjust Termination by the Landowner of Construction Contracts in Return for Land Shares”; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Leyla Müjde KURT, “The Legal Position of Third Parties Acquiring Land Shares from the Contractor in Construction Contracts in Return for Land Shares in Light of Recent Developments”; and Assist. Prof. Dr. Ünsal DÖNMEZ, “The Liability of the Consulting Engineer in Turnkey Construction Contracts”.

In Session III, chaired by Prof. Dr. Mehmet Emin BİLGE, Assoc. Prof. Dr. H. Tolunay OZANEMRE YAYLA presented “Defective Performance in Construction Contracts and the Rules Applicable to Defective Performance”; Assist. Prof. Dr. Vehbi Umut ERKAN, “Destruction of the Structure before Delivery in Construction Contracts”; and Assist. Prof. Dr. Yasemin GÜLLÜOĞLU ALTUN, “The Price in Contracts for Work”.
